My daughter Alice Dunn, speaks about you, Alice, so when I heard your book being read on the RN bookshow this morning, I pricked up my ears and listened with a growing interest! Then I emailed Alice to make sure. She is fortunate to have met you and I trust your work and socialising are rewarding.

Alice!

Great to see you at the launch of 'Living Between Cultures', after all these years... Didn't get the chance to say bye, as I had to quickly duck off.

How funny we were both living in Beijing at the same time without even knowing!

Anyway, happy that you have maintained the same humility you had at uni, and look forward to catching up again soon.

just found out about your book, Unpolished Gem, from a friend of mine who traveled a lot in the past year and had time to read it on trains! He praised your book, which made me borrow it!

I absolutely loved this book no only for its wittiness and cleverness but also for the deep emotions involved in it. As a teenage migrant myself, I found this auto-biography very inspiring and genuine. I think you have written one of the most fantastic auto-biographies in migrant literature Alice.

Alice!

Thank you for your helpful and inspiring presentation on Growing Up Asian In Australia.

You have made me realise things about my Asian culture and life.

I must say, the anthology is fantastic and Unpolished Gem is also an amazing book to read. They are both the types of books where you would grab the person next to you in the bookstore and say to them - "here! read this one!"

It is so refreshing to see that you fulfilled the Asian Dream - by becoming a lawyer - and then doing something extra that is close to your heart.

Again, I must give my appreciation to you - your presentation was helpful, interesting and easily relatable.

Alice!
What a wonderful surprise to have received your book after our meeting on the plane. I have just finished it and want to thank you not only for the privilege of meeting you and your graciousness, but also for sharing this beautiful story with me. I will be passing it on to my colleagues as it is both a remarkable life story as well as a transforming experience. I only wish I had read it before I met you so I could ask you the many questions it raised for me! Who knows....another time?!
With a grateful heart,
Sue
